Read The Winning Entries

To celebrate the rich diversity and talent of Los Angeles, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and the heritage month’s steering committee hosted a writing contest for all 7th to 12th grade students in Los Angeles County. The contest allowed students an opportunity to study the City’s heritage and celebrate its history through their creativity in written form while exploring the theme of “What symbolizes Latino Los Angeles to me.”

The contest’s first, second and third-place winners received savings bonds from competition sponsor Time Warner Cable and free tickets to Disneyland from Latino Heritage Month’s title sponsor, The Walt Disney Company.
